Event Description: McMaster University's URBAN program (Urban-Rural Biomonitoring and Assessment Network) will be holding its Year-End Reception on Thursday, November 24. URBAN is a citizen-science biomonitoring program for marshes and streams in the Hamilton Region. The event will feature the presentation of the results of the volunteer stream and marsh surveys from this past summer, education and outreach activities and former Toronto Mayor David Miller as a guest speaker presenting on "Green Cities". Since stepping down as mayor, Miller has continued to be active as an advisor on urban and environmental issues to such organizations as the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the C40 (a group of large cities around the world committed to implementing sustainable climate-related initiatives). This event is free and open to the public and is a good opportunity to see what the URBAN program is all about.
